John,
Last year, I visited all of Pennsylvania's 67 counties on a listening tour.
The goal? To gauge support for legalizing recreational marijuana across the Commonwealth.
The outcome? Pennsylvanians overwhelmingly supported legalization.
In response, Governor Tom Wolf and I urged the General Assembly to take up three critical pieces of policy:
- Legalize recreational marijuana
- Decriminalize minor cannabis-related offenses
- Expunge past convictions of minor cannabis-related crimes.
321 days later, the legislature has failed to answer our call. We need to get loud to let them know we haven't forgotten.
Tell the Pennsylvania Legislature: It's time to legalize recreational marijuana in Pennsylvania. Do your job and get this done now!

In the time of COVID-19, Pennsylvania's financial situation is dire — for schools, small businesses, and people across the state who are losing their jobs and struggling to make ends meet. We should be doing everything we can to raise revenue, and legalizing recreational marijuana can help mitigate cuts to our state budget.
But most importantly, people of color are overrepresented in arrests for marijuana possession. Legalizing recreational marijuana would be a major step forward in our fight to reform a deeply broken criminal justice system that thrives off the mass incarceration of Black and brown people.
Change is coming. Leaders in other states are making moves toward criminal justice reform and to re-frame the conversation around marijuana. It's time for legislators in Pennsylvania to do the same.
Will you sign your name to our petition calling on the Pennsylvania Legislature to move forward with legalizing recreational marijuana?

It's rare that we get bipartisan support on an issue these days — we can't waste this momentum. Pennsylvanians are tired of waiting. Legalize it.
Thanks for taking action,
John
