According to Donald Trump, it's "not possible" for the federal government to fund Medicare, Medicaid, or child care because "we're fighting wars."
How convenient.
Trump is choosing to drive our country deeper into debt for a war Americans from all political persuasions overwhelmingly oppose, all while telling you we can't afford basic needs like health care and child care.
We are the richest country in the world, and if we’re able to spend more than $1 billion a day on another reckless war of choice in the Middle East, then refusing to fund programs like Medicaid was never about a budget problem.
If we truly had a budget problem, this administration wouldn’t be proposing increasing the Pentagon budget to $1.5 trillion next year — yes, that’s trillion with a T.
This is a policy choice.
Now Republicans in Congress are considering further cuts to Americans’ health care to pay for this war. So just to be clear: there's apparently unlimited money for Donald Trump's expensive, illegal, and reckless war in Iran. But Medicare? Medicaid? Universal child care that lets parents actually go to work? Sorry, that’s "not possible."
I call bullsh*t.
Americans need good health care and child care that they can afford, not more bombs being dropped in our names using our tax dollars. If you agree, please add your name to tell Congress you want health care and child care, not more war. [[link removed]]
