Andrew fought to quadruple the SALT deduction to $40,000, delivering real relief to Long Islanders who were unfairly penalized simply for living in a high-cost area. Andrew heard directly from constituents, seeing the impact: “As a retired officer and Long Island homeowner, the higher SALT deduction is real, meaningful relief. It helps me keep more of what I earned over a lifetime of service and helps make it possible to stay here on Long Island,” said Tim, a Long Island retiree. Andrew also helped deliver relief for working families by cutting taxes on tips and overtime. That matters on Long Island, where long hours and extra shifts are part of the job for so many. “As a Suffolk County police officer, overtime is a part of the job. After working 900 overtime hours, being able to keep more of what I earn from those extra hours makes a real difference for my family,” one officer shared with Andrew’s office. Families raising kids are seeing benefits, too. The Child Tax Credit has been strengthened to help with the rising cost of everyday life. “As a parent of two on Long Island, every dollar counts right now. The Child Tax Credit helps cover the basics like groceries, school supplies, and childcare,” one local parent said. Andrew will keep fighting to make Long Island more affordable for the families who call it home. ANDREW IN THE NEWS Blue-state residents are reaping big refunds from Trump tax law’s SALT cap The Wall Street Journal highlighted the impact of SALT relief and what it means for taxpayers in high-cost states like New York. Andrew always appreciates opportunities to bring people together around practical solutions that benefit both the environment and the local economy. It was great to see families, local organizations, and small businesses all come together for the event. DEA Drug Take Back Initiative Andrew is encouraging everyone to take part in the upcoming DEA Drug Take Back initiative on April 25th, 2026. Andrew has always supported efforts that protect families and prevent substance misuse before it starts. Financial Literacy Month April is Financial Literacy Month, and Andrew is focused on making sure families have the tools they need to build long-term stability. It’s about giving families a real plan for the future and helping the next generation get ahead. Expanding access to financial literacy is key to improving long-term financial stability, and Andrew remains committed to supporting efforts that empower families to succeed. Andrew’s team immediately stepped in and contacted the Office of Personnel Management. Within weeks, her case was reviewed, she received a retroactive payment of $4,250, and her monthly payments of $2,055 are now in place Helping constituents navigate federal agencies is one of the most important services our office provides.
