2020 Women's Vote Centennial
DID YOU KNOW?
Next Tuesday marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment,
which guaranteed and protected women's constitutional right to vote.
In 1848, suffragists began their fight for women’s equality when they demanded
the right to vote during the first women’s rights convention in New York. The
next 72 years were made up of women leaders who lobbied, marched, picketed, and
protested for this essential right. On May 21, 1919, the U.S. House of
Representatives approved the Susan B. Anthony Amendment, finally granting women
the right to vote.
Today, more than 68 million women vote in elections. Here are a few women who
made it possible.
We are thankful to the women who laid the path for us and all of our female
candidates!
