First Pup of Kentucky, professional Good Girl, and official judge of human character (unpaid, but highly accurate). And yes, in case you were wondering, I actually am writing this myself (my dad is probably going to have to get a new keyboard after this one, I can only do so much with paws and no fingers).

Anyways — today is National Pet Day, which means I should technically be focused on myself. My naps. My walks. My treats. And I am doing all of those things, don't worry. But I also felt it was important to share something I've learned in my line of work: dogs are the best judges of character. We don't care about speeches or headlines. We care about who shows up, who's kind, and who remembers where the treat drawer is. And I can confirm: Andy Beshear is a very good dad.

I've been observing him closely from my important office position (his chair), and I've reached a firm conclusion. He works hard for Kentucky families, and not just in the "looks good in photos" way — in the real, everyday way that actually matters. He's focused on helping people across the state and beyond, bringing good jobs and opportunities home, and trying to make things a little steadier for families who need it most. Honestly, it's impressive (almost as impressive as my ability to hear a treat bag open from a different zip code).

So even though today is supposed to be about me (and I would like to reiterate that point for the record), I want to do something for him. Because good humans deserve support—and because I have decided he is worth sharing my National Pet Day attention with. Which is saying a lot.
