How is the One Big Beautiful Bill Helping America?

Latest highlights on policy from AAF including tariff refunds, OBBB explained, anti-fraud reforms, and more

Happy Friday from Advancing American Freedom. As always, we are grateful for your support which makes it possible to defend your ideas - in part by educating lawmakers and Capitol Hill staff on cutting bureaucratic red tape and strengthening our American economy.

Defending Your Ideas in Washington
  • AAF just released a 90-page booklet explaining every “win” for conservatives in the One Big Beautiful Bill and its provisions. The launch event was well-attended by dozens of Congressional staffers. AAF Research Fellow Preston Brashers, Analyst Austin Gae, VP Richard Stern, VP John Shelton, and Senior Legal Fellow Amy Swearer all contributed to this report.
  • The booklet is a deep, comprehensive look at all of the ways that OBBB was a major win for America. It contains specific one- and two-page memos that give a digestible summary of the major provisions. One Congressional staffer we met with this week called the booklet “wildly helpful” for messaging.

Explaining Principled Conservatism
  • In a detailed report, AAF Senior Research Fellow David Burton spells out why the tariff refund procedure is going to be a mess unless Congress steps in with legislation.
  • AAF Senior Research Fellow Rachel Greszler brings the heat on waste, fraud, and abuse with 23 pages of analysis and recommendations.
  • Bernie and AOC want America to halt its production of new AI data centers until there are “strong national safeguards in place.” This would kill energy demand, incentivize data centers to leave the country, and make America less competitive in the race for global AI dominance.
  • “The Supreme Court, for the third time, has slapped down another attempt by Colorado to control what people say, think, and do regarding sexuality and the sexes,” writes AAF Senior Legal Fellow Tom Jipping.
  • “While some claim that unions are on the ‘comeback,’ the reality is that union membership continues to decline and it’s unlikely to rise unless unions adapt their outdated models.”
  • See also her opinion in Washington Examiner: The Numbers are in: Unions Need a New Playbook.
  • In my op-ed with Jonathan Moy, we rolled out our new Small Business Opportunity Initiative, AAF’s plan to highlight the role entrepreneurs—especially small business owners—play in building our economy. Our polling shows that business owners are optimistic about recent provisions like the permanent Trump-Pence tax cut extensions but are concerned about how the government will respond to inflation and tariffs.
  • Pence gives President Trump “all the credit in the world” for his efforts to counter Iranian threats and analyzes the situation with Brian Kilmeade.

Your Investment in Young Leaders
This week, we hosted a few members of our Congressional Fellowship program—a highly competitive group of rising leaders on the Hill—for a Q&A lunch with Vice President Pence and AAF VP of Policy John Shelton.

Enjoy your weekend!
