John, It's been less than a week since we launched our Legislative Equali-TEA series, and the response we've received so far has been tea-rrific! Over 100 Virginians have shared with us their discrimination experiences and identified their legislative priorities for 2021 - plus, our amazing community partners are helping us spread the word about the series far and wide. If you haven’t already had your first sip of TEA with us, be sure to Take our 3-minute community survey by August 19th. Based upon the responses we have received so far, we know that even though the new statewide nondiscrimination law is in place, LGBTQ Virginians unfortunately continue to experience discrimination in their communities and many still feel unsafe being their true, authentic selves, especially in more rural areas of the state. Because of the legislative priorities that have been shared with us through the survey, we also know that LGBTQ Virginians and allies are more determined than ever to see the Commonwealth become a safer, more welcoming place to live. It is important for us to hear from as many Virginians as possible and we especially encourage LGBTQ Black, Indigenous, and people of color to complete the community survey and participate in our follow-up conversations.
