Spring always feels like a fresh start to me.

A time to open the windows, clear out what’s been weighing us down, and
take stock of what really matters.

I’ve also been thinking about what that kind of “spring cleaning” looks
like in our government, too.

There’s a lot in Washington that needs clearing out: the noise, the
misinformation, the petty politics that put special interests ahead of
people.

That’s part of why this spring, I decided to take on something new. I’m
co-teaching a class at the University of Maryland called “What’s
Leadership Got to Do With It?.” I’ll be sitting down each week with
students to talk through real decisions, address challenges, and discuss
what it means to lead with integrity.

One thing I keep coming back to with them is this: good leadership isn’t
about having all the answers. It’s about being willing to listen, to
learn, and to clean up what isn’t working.

That’s the same approach I’m bringing to the Senate.

Whether it’s tackling the childcare crisis, protecting the Chesapeake Bay,
or pushing back against dangerous misinformation, I’m rolling up my
sleeves and clearing a path forward for Maryland families.
