Let me explain why I stand with LaMonica, and why I am asking you to join me today.

Last year, Rep. McIver was performing congressional oversight in her district when ICE interfered with her job. As a result, she’s facing baseless charges and up to 17 years in prison for her commitment to protect people against Trump’s agents.

These charges against Rep. McIver are a product of LaMonica exercising her responsibility to check the Trump administration.

Let us be clear-eyed about what this means: Weaponizing the justice system to threaten political opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

Rep. McIver’s case will demonstrate how far the current administration can distort the Justice Department to target Trump’s enemies list. Their ability to silence and punish LaMonica will set new political and legal precedent for how they can intimidate critics.

We can’t let these tactics prevail. It will require all of us to stand up and push back directly against them.

LaMonica’s fight is ongoing and extremely expensive. She is already facing a tremendous sum in legal bills. I told her personally that she could count on this team’s support, so I am asking:
