** Ready-to-Learn-Remotely Supply Drive
------------------------------------------------------------
Remote learning in the fall will be challenging for all students and their families. For many of the thousands of youth that Identity works with, it will be even more challenging, starting school unprepared for kindergarten, reading below grade level, suffering high rates of childhood traumas, and now experiencing disproportionate health and economic impacts of COVID-19.

A computer and internet connection isn’t all that they’ll need for the new school year. To be successful, our learners also need tools to minimize distractions, stay organized, and remain focused and motivated, even in crowded homes.

What You Can Do

You can help Identity youth start the school year by supporting our remote-learning supply drive. Identity has already filled 500 backpacks. Help us reach our goal to fill another 500 backpacks for Latino and other historically underserved youth so they can get the most out of remote learning.

Identity will personally deliver the backpacks to reinforce the first of many personal connections that will help them be successful students.

What's in the Backpacks

Each backpack will have age-appropriate supplies for remote learners from elementary, middle, and highschoolers to those enrolled in GED and workforce training programs. We will include noise-canceling headphones to block out distractions and other school supplies such as pencils, markers, writing and drawing pads, calculators, binders, surge protectors, and more. Of course, we'll add a card game and some snacks for breaks or a basic fitness tracker to encourage physical exercise as a healthy way to relieve stress.

What Identity is Doing in the Community

While we continue to keep young people engaged in their education, older youth in their work skills development and parents equipped to help them, we moved almost all youth and family support online and significantly increased our capacity to deliver critical, if not lifesaving, case management services, direct client assistant and mental health supports remotely. Since March, Identity has touched more than 15,000 lives, helping families and young adults access basic necessities such as food, housing, academic support, medical care, mental health services, and education about COVID-19, and connecting them to public aid. We continue to co-lead the Black and Brown Coalition for Educational Equity and Excellence to ensure all children receive a quality education and opportunities to succeed.
