John,
We’re breaking through to Congress. Over the past few weeks, actions have been held across the country to save transit, catching the attention of House and Senate leadership. More than 100 House lawmakers just pledged their support of the full $32 billion we need to keep our transit systems running.
We’ve got to keep the momentum going. That’s why today is critical.
First thing tomorrow morning, we’re starting a nationwide Day of Action to #SaveTransit alongside thousands of transit riders, workers, and advocates. Our voices are many and our message is unified: Congress needs to pass $32 billion for transit, NOW. Can you join us by sending a message to your Senators?
Your actions make all the difference in winning this fight. At the start of the summer, transit was barely on the agenda for Congress. You’ve helped move it front and center by sharing photos about why #transitisessential to you.
With your help, we’ve also kept up the pressure on city, state, and federal lawmakers by sharing stories of people across the country who depend on transit as a lifeline:
Restaurant workers, like Deanna in Pittsburgh, who have struggled to afford fares amidst the pandemic. Bus drivers, like Corey in Philadelphia, who are worried about COVID-19 exposure due to inadequate safety measures. Grocery clerks, like Stephen in Philadelphia, who faced tripled commute times as a result of service cuts.
Their stories share a common thread: transit is essential, it’s keeping our economy moving, and we must fund it fully to keep us all safe.
Here’s how to take part in tomorrow’s Day of Action:
- Click to tweet at your Senators and tell them to fund $32 billion for transit
- Use the hashtag #SaveTransit to join the nationwide conversation and pressure lawmakers to act
- Retweet and share messages from partnering organizations using #SaveTransit to amplify our united message
Don’t have a Twitter account? You can still participate. Post a similar message on any social media channel using #SaveTransit, or click here to email Congress instead.
Thank you for making your voice heard,
– Nicole Wong Dream Corps Green for All
