Greetings Friends,

All 2020 legislation has now cleared the Governor's desk. Senate President Donna Soucy and House speaker Steve Shurtleff and their staff deserve a lot of credit for moving 230 pieces of legislation through the 2020 session. In total, 166 pieces of legislation are among 39 bills enacted into state statutes, of which I'm the prime sponsor of 12 bills enacted. 22 of 61 bills were vetoed in the past month, representing 64 original pieces of legislation. Most of the vetoes were bills that had bi-partisan support and the vetoes are counter to the needs of Granite Staters. The most recent vetoes include:

HB1665 This bill would have led to districts being drawn by nonpartisan appointees.

HB250 This bill would have allowed Medicaid recipients to also receive dental coverage and would have been 90% reimbursed with federal funds.

HB1660 This law would have allowed people to attempt to reconcile their trauma in the form of more comprehensive legal protections for the victims of abuse.

HB731 This law would have established a state minimum wage to keep up with New England states, all of which have a minimum wage over $10 per hour.

HB685 This law would have required health insurance companies to cover abortions among their maternity benefits.

HB687 This bill paved a road legally for the repossession of firearms if the owner in question poses a significant risk to themselves and others. Suicide is currently the second leading cause of death in the State’s 10-34 age group. 19 other states currently have red flag laws in place.

HB1374 This bill allowed for continued insurance coverage for medical monitoring resulting from PFAS outbreaks, like St. Gobain.
