Yesterday, in an unhinged social media post, President Trump openly contemplated war crimes amid the ongoing war in Iran, writing, “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”

Let’s be clear: The president cannot order the military to violate American law, commit war crimes, kill civilians on purpose, or try to intimidate a civilian population.

And despite the fact that the president has agreed to a two-week ceasefire after making these comments, his blatant abuse of power and threats of a war crime put our national security at risk.
