We're looking for ways to connect and convene between now and #HarmRed22 - what would you show up for?
Dear Community,
We sure do miss you all and we are brainstorming ways we can be in community right now! From running harm reduction programs during COVID-19 to fighting racial injustice to reflecting on how we hold ourselves accountable in the movement, like the rest of the world, the harm reduction community is growing, stretching, and transforming. We're witnessing the emergence of a new world, one that demands replacing old ways of thinking with fresh perspectives and finding new ways of meaningful engagement. It's time for #HarmRedNow!
As conveners and connectors, we’re taking our cues from the community to map out ways to bring some of that conference magic into this new reality. Instead of a traditional virtual conference we’re going to stretch out the timeline to create spaces where we can have meaningful conversations and share tools and resources. Tell us more to inform #HarmRedNow. What conversations do we need to have and how do we have them? We’ve been wondering...
* Virtual meeting fatigue is real - what would you be excited to attend if we were doing live events?
* What other creative ways can we connect and convene?
* What kinds of successes and lessons learned of the past two years do we want to highlight?
* Is it possible to still have a fashion show? What does social space look like in 2020 since it's the heart of our conference?
* What are all of the “wouldn’t it be cool if…” ideas that we could bring into this space?
* How do we arrive in Puerto Rico responsibly for #HarmRed22? What kinds of convenings will keep us connected with our Puerto Rico based harm reduction community?

What happens with the survey? Our team will review responses to get a temperature check on what folks are looking for and how that aligns with what we have capacity to hold. We’ve also got our own plans to share our new website and resources (coming up August 24th!) to meet the new National Harm Reduction Coalition.

¡Ciertamente los extrañamos a todos ustedes y estamos teniendo lluvias de ideas para ver formas en las que podemos estar en la comunidad ahora! Desde correr programas para la reducción del daño durante el COVID-19 hasta luchar la injusticia racial hasta reflexionar en cómo nosotros nos hacemos responsables por el movimiento, al igual que todo el mundo, la comunidad para la reducción del daño está creciendo, extendiéndose y transformándose. Estamos siendo testigos del inicio de un nuevo mundo, uno que demanda el reemplazo de las formas viejas de pensar con nuevas perspectivas y encontrar nuevas maneras de realizar un compromiso significativo. ¡Es tiempo para #HarmRedNow!
Como convocantes y conectores, estamos tomando nuestras señales de nuestra comunidad para poder realizar un mapa de formas en las que podemos traer esa magia de la conferencias a esta nueva realidad. En lugar de realizar conferencias virtuales tradicionales, estamos extendiendo nuestra línea de tiempo para poder crear espacios donde podemos tener conversaciones significativas y compartir herramientas y recursos. Díganos más para poder informar a #HarmRedNow. ¿Qué conversaciones necesitamos tener y cómo las Podemos tener? Me he estado preguntando…

* ¿Qué tipos de éxitos y lecciones aprendidas en los últimos dos años queremos recalcar?
* ¿Es posible tener todavía un show de moda? ¿Cómo se ve el espacio social en el 2020 dado que es el corazón de nuestra conferencia?
* ¿Cuáles son las ideas “sería genial si…” que podemos traer en este espacio?
* Para nuestros miembros de la comunidad basada en Puerto Rico, ¿cómo llegamos a Puerto Rico de manera responsable para #HarmRed22? ¿Qué tipos de convenciones nos mantendrán conectas con nuestra comunidad para la reducción del daño basada en Puerto Rico?

Nuestro equipo revisará las respuestas para poder tener una toma temperatura de lo que están buscando nuestros colegas y cómo se alinea con la capacidad que tenemos para poder realizarlo. También tenemos nuestros propios planes a compartir en nuestra nueva página web y recursos (¡próximamente el 24 de Agosto!) para conocer la nueva National Harm Reduction Coalition (Coalición Nacional para la Reducción del Daño).
