President Trump just issued rushed and reckless executive orders that put the long-term security of Medicare and Medicaid at risk, and don't provide real relief.
Three months ago, Congressional Democrats passed a bill to make sure unemployed Americans could continue feeding their families after losing their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But Congressional Republicans and President Trump hit "pause" and refused to act.
We can't allow President Trump to grandstand and play games with the lives of working families, children, and seniors -- or to provide cover for Republicans who refuse to come to the table and help the American people.
Tell President Trump and Congressional Republicans it's time for real COVID-19 relief. Demand action now.
President Trump's latest executive orders are a disaster.
The President has proposed major changes to payroll taxes which would divert hundreds of billions of dollars away from Social Security and Medicare -- vital programs that keep Americans safe and healthy.
His unemployment executive order would delay aid until after the creation of a new unemployment system, would force state governments hit hard by the pandemic to pay a quarter of benefits, and the number of people who would actually receive benefits would be far less than the current system allows.
The American people deserve better. Congressional Republicans and Donald Trump must come to the table and negotiate real solutions with Democrats to make sure Americans can stay safe and healthy and feed their families as this pandemic continues.
Tell President Trump and Congressional Republicans to join Democrats in extending unemployment benefits and keeping Americans safe now.
