Jack, as we've mentioned in previous emails, so far, 2026 has been one of
Daily Kos' toughest years financially.

Daily Kos has been able to weather the ups and downs of the economy because of
our incredibly supportive community. Daily Kos doesn't have billionaire
investors and corporate sponsors, we have tens of thousands of readers and
activists donating what they can—we are truly reader-supported news.

There couldn’t be a more important time to come together to fight, not only
for the sustainability of Daily Kos, but for the endurance of the progressive
ideals we stand for in the face of tangible threats to our democracy and our
rights.

That's why I am asking you for your help. Daily Kos still needs to raise
$102,534 by the end of the month to meet our fundraising goal. Can you donate
$5, or whatever amount is meaningful to you, to help us reach our goal?

P.S. We wanted to make sure you didn't miss Markos' previous email about the
future of Daily Kos:

Jack, I want to talk to you about the future of Daily Kos.

For more than two decades, Daily Kos has been one of the most important
gathering places for progressives online. Millions of readers come here every
month to understand what’s happening in American politics, cut through the
nonsense, find community, and figure out how to fight back.

As you well know, that matters now more than ever.

Trump and his allies are flooding the zone with chaos, disinformation, and
intimidation. Corporate media too often shrugs and normalizes it. And
increasingly, major outlets are being snapped up by billionaires—people like
Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Larry Ellison—who are reshaping media in ways that
serve their financial interests and toxic worldview.

Daily Kos is different. We answer to one group and one group only: our
community.

In fact, roughly 80% of our revenue comes directly from readers like you. That
independence is what lets us call out bullshit when we see it and keep fighting
for the country we believe in. It allowed us to fight Donald Trump’s Department
of Justice when they came for us last year. And it means no billionaire owner
can ever tell us what we can or can’t say.

But there’s something important we need to do right now to make sure Daily Kos
is still here—and still strong—years from now.

Can you chip in $5 right now to help Daily Kos keep fighting?

We need to future-proof this place. We are almost done building our new,
modern platform designed to carry Daily Kos for the next few decades. It is
faster and more secure than our trusty but rusty existing platform, and
flexible enough to grow with our community.

And once that foundation is in place, we’ll finally be able to build things
people have been asking for forever—includinga Daily Kos mobile app, with
development planned to begin later this year.

This is the kind of investment that keeps independent media alive. And it’s
only possible because of the people who power this place. That’s you!

But here’s the honest truth: we’re currently behind where we need to be in
fundraising.

Not because people don’t care, but because the political and economic chaos
out there is exhausting for everyone.

Still, the work doesn’t stop. And the future of Daily Kos depends on whether
this community continues to step up.

So if you value a progressive media platform that isn’t owned by billionaires,
please chip in today.

A $10 contribution right now will help us build the next generation of Daily
Kos and keep this community strong for years to come.
