10 days ago, rent and mortgage payments were due. In 22 days, they’ll be due again. Without adequate relief, tens of millions of people are facing eviction. But that relief is being held up, because politicians like Mitch McConnell are more focused on special interests than putting people first.

Serving in the Republican-controlled Senate, I see that all too often. At a time when we need compassionate and thoughtful leadership, too many of our elected officials are abandoning the people they’re supposed to serve.
