Accuracy in Media has released a new undercover investigation at the University of North Texas.
Texas lawmakers passed a clear ban on DEI in public universities. But what we captured on hidden camera shows how UNT is continuing to teach this divisive ideology regardless.
Paige Falco, a Field Education Coordinator in UNT’s Social Work department, confirmed that DEI is “definitely still a focus,” despite the law.
She explained why.
Because the Council on Social Work Education requires DEI as a core competency in social work education, faculty and administrators are deferring to it rather than to state lawmakers. In practice, accreditation is being treated as a higher authority than the law.
Speaking to our undercover investigators, Falco acknowledged that while some changes have been made, the goal is to continue teaching the same material.
“We need to follow the law … but there’s also ways that we can still kind of get around it and teach what we need to teach.”
Falco also explained that their field instructor training is being updated to place even greater emphasis on DEI-related topics, including for instructors working in government agencies.
Not only is DEI continuing in public universities, but it is also being reinforced in training pipelines that extend beyond the university.

Programs are renamed. Requirements are reframed. But the underlying content remains.
If universities can point to accreditors as an excuse to continue these programs, then state law becomes meaningless.
