We have a problem.

On June 29, the Supreme Court declined to consider serious issues with the federal death penalty. Their ruling allowed Donald Trump to resume federal executions after a 20-year hiatus.

Here’s what we know about capital punishment: it’s a process rife with implicit bias, poor lawyering, and junk science. It is disproportionately applied to Black Americans, the disabled, and the poor. And it does not help victims heal.

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley introduced a bill to end the death penalty at the federal level. With the Trump administration set to execute more people soon, we need Congress to act quickly.
