The pharmaceutical industry has already gotten billions in taxpayer funding to develop vaccines and treatments for COVID-19.

As Public Citizen has uncovered:

• The bulk of research on coronaviruses before the outbreak of COVID-19 was done by the federal government.

• All but one of the most promising potential vaccines has been developed with extensive federal support.

• The federal government even has patent rights for one leading vaccine candidate.

But history tells us that none of that will stop Big Pharma from trying to hold the world hostage to its price gouging.

That’s why Public Citizen is demanding that any and all vaccines and treatments for COVID-19 developed using taxpayer money be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability to pay.
