John, I’m Dr. Amy Acton, and I’m the Democratic candidate for governor of Ohio. I grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, struggling through abuse, neglect, and hunger — and even spent one winter living in a tent. I often share that public schools saved my life. After pulling myself out of poverty, I worked three jobs to put myself through med school. Throughout my career, I’ve always worked with both sides of the aisle — because I’ll work with anyone who wants to solve problems instead of make them. In 2019, I was appointed by a Republican governor to lead the Ohio Department of Health. I held drug companies accountable, kept communities healthy, and was called to serve during the most unprecedented public health crisis of our lifetimes. I’m a doctor, not a politician; but I am a public servant. I’m running for governor because people in my state are struggling, and I refuse to look the other way while bad actors and special interests keep taking Ohio backwards on nearly every measure. The problems we face don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican. They’re just problems that need to be fixed. And John, I don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican, either. I’ll fight for you and your family just the same. But I can’t win this race alone; that’s why I’m asking for your help today. We’re up against a Trump-endorsed, MAGA billionaire backed by other out-of-state billionaires. My opponent, Vivek Ramaswamy, just dropped $10 MILLION in this race to try and defeat me because he knows Ohioans aren’t falling for the MAGA playbook.
