Last fall, we helped elect the largest House Democratic majority in Virginia in nearly four decades. We reached over one million voters, flipped 13 seats, and won every single race we engaged in.
Now, those lawmakers are delivering tangible policy wins for working families.
In the first session under this Democratic governing trifecta, Virginia's legislature has passed a slate of legislation that shows exactly what’s possible when we win:

Paid family and medical leave: Virginia will become the first state in the South to guarantee workers the right to paid family and medical leave. This is the same bill that was twice vetoed under the previous Republican governor — and it’s now headed to Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s desk.

Paid sick leave: For the first time, Virginia will require all public and private employers to provide paid sick days — so workers don't have to choose between their health and their paycheck.

Reproductive rights on the ballot: Lawmakers passed a constitutional amendment that, if approved by voters this fall, will enshrine the right to abortion in the state constitution.

A redistricting amendment sent to voters: Lawmakers voted to give the people a direct say in protecting fair representation, a direct counterweight to Trump’s efforts to unfairly hold onto power in the House.
What we’ve accomplished in Virginia can be replicated in states across the country. In November, we’ll have the opportunity to win Democratic governing trifectas in places like Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Michigan—states that also have key opportunities to flip federal congressional seats.
When we elect state and local leaders who fight for working families, we’re able to fast-track real policy victories that people will feel in their daily lives.
That is the work ahead, and Virginia proves what’s possible.
