As families gather and communities come together, it’s a time to reflect and appreciate the moments that matter most. Whether you’re attending services or spending time with loved ones, Andrew hopes this weekend brings you peace, joy, and a well-deserved chance to recharge. "Across Long Island, families are coming together this weekend in ways that remind us of what matters most. Chag Pesach Sameach and Happy Easter to those celebrating. I hope it’s a meaningful weekend for everyone.” ANDREW IN THE NEWS ICYMI: TSA, Coast Guard, CISA, FEMA Underscore Long-Term Damage Caused by Democrat DHS Shutdown "Chairman Garbarino then asked how the shutdown is affecting TSA’s ability to prepare for the influx of travelers ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to which TSA Acting Administrator McNeill testified: “It takes a TSO four to six months to be fully certified in all functions to operate a checkpoint. And so, at this point, if we bring on any new TSOs, you know, those folks will not be deployed in time by FIFA. And so, we are watching our attrition rates very closely to make sure that if we see any spikes, we’ll have to pivot and assess how we are going to staff the FIFA locations adequately.” Chairman Garbarino also asked about the shutdown’s impact on our cybersecurity posture, to which CISA Acting Director Andersen testified: “There’s a variety of assessments that CISA completes day to day, whether that’s working with the private sector or it’s working with our state and local partners or across the federal ecosystem… It’s an exceedingly dynamic thread environment, as you know, both in the cybersecurity landscape and in the physical security landscape. Even a reduced capacity within these essential functions presents a real opportunity for our adversaries to be able to take advantage of that gap in capability.” Read More Here WHAT'S NEW IN NY-02 Visiting Pronto Long Island Andrew’s team recently visited Pronto of Long Island in Bay Shore to see firsthand the incredible work they are doing to support families across our community. Since 1969, Pronto has been a lifeline for Long Islanders in need. During the visit, the team toured Pronto’s updated food pantry, their clothing and thrift shop, and learned more about their plans for future renovations to better serve the growing number of families who rely on their services. Organizations like Pronto play an essential role in strengthening Long Island, and their work makes a real difference in people’s lives every single day. Andrew is proud to support organizations like Pronto and remains committed to making sure they have the resources they need to continue serving our communities. First Responders Lacrosse Clinic Andrew’s team was proud to attend the First Responder Lacrosse Clinic, bringing together law enforcement and first responder teams from across Long Island, including the Secret Service, FBI, NYPD, Suffolk County Police Department, FDNY, and more. The event gave local families a chance to connect with first responders while learning more about the important work they do every day to keep our communities safe. Andrew is grateful to all of the first responders who participated and to the organizers who made this a great day for Long Island families. Financial Literacy Month April is Financial Literacy Month, a reminder of how important it is to have the tools and knowledge to make informed financial decisions. When individuals and families understand how to budget, manage debt, save, and plan for the future, it can strengthen entire communities. Andrew is highlighting the importance of financial education throughout the month to help Long Islanders build stronger financial habits. Three simple ways to get involved: Start a conversation with your family about budgeting and saving Take advantage of trusted online financial education resources Share helpful information with friends, coworkers, or your community Expanding access to financial literacy is key to improving long-term financial stability, and Andrew remains committed to supporting efforts that empower families to succeed. Casework Highlight: Navigating Social Security A constituent reached out to Andrew’s office after her sister passed away, and a Social Security payment that was owed to her was mistakenly returned by the bank. Navigating federal agencies during a difficult time can be overwhelming, and Andrew’s team stepped in to help. Working directly with the Social Security Administration, the team coordinated across offices to resolve the issue. The payment was reprocessed and successfully delivered via direct deposit. Helping constituents navigate federal agencies is one of the most important services our office provides. If you ever need assistance with a federal agency, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
