The Trump Plan: Aiming Not to Make a Deal But to Make a Deal Possible
The Trump Peace plan makes a profound departure from peace plans in the past, all of which have failed, and all of which were met with a continuous pattern of Palestinian intransigence and terrorism. This plan realistically states that if the Palestinian objective, and their version of “justice” entails the total elimination of the state of Israel, it will not get the backing of the United States, and that if the Palestinians revert to their usual pattern of rejectionism and violence, the United States will not stand in the way of Israel’s claim to the land that any reasonable peace process would have ultimately been left in Israel’s hands.

Douglas Feith is a Senior Fellow at Hudson Institute, where he heads the Center for National Security Strategies. He is the author of the New-York-Times-best-selling memoir War and Decision: Inside the Pentagon at the Dawn of the War on Terrorism. He was a professor of national security studies at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. As Under Secretary of Defense for Policy from July 2001 until August 2005, he helped devise the U.S. government’s strategy for the war on terrorism and contributed to policy making for the Afghanistan and Iraq campaigns.
