Let's show up for Global Climate Strikes

Dear John,

As devastating fires rage from the Amazon to the Congo, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) looked the other way and voted against holding a climate debate. In a world with rising sea levels, scorching temperatures and more pollution than we can track, Democratic officials decided to ignore our voices.

We don’t have time to despair. In the coming weeks, we’ll take to the streets on September 20th for the Global Climate Strike to make sure our elected officials and candidates for office in 2020 all hear us loud and clear.

Led by thousands of workers, students and youth organizers all across the country, all of us are coming together to let the DNC know that we won’t stand down from our demands for climate action.

Take one minute right now, and sign up for a Strike event near you. If there isn’t one where you live, host one yourself.

Just 8 fossil fuel companies are responsible for 70% of climate pollution, responsible for pushing our climate to the brink of collapse and hurting our communities in real-time. This is especially true for those of us who are poor, people of color, and otherwise marginalized.

The Strikes aren’t just about speaking up, but more importantly how we use the power of the people to remind our officials that they work for us. That's what we're doing on September 20th, as thousands of people around the country walk out of their jobs and homes to join youth striking from school in the streets.

We don’t have to wait on politicians to determine the future for us. We know the solutions we need, and with hundreds of thousands of us in the streets, we know we can make it happen. So let’s get started.

Sign up today to Strike on Sept 20, and continue to escalate through a week of action across the world.

See you out on the streets on Sept 20th.

Let’s make a real difference,
Clarissa Brooks
