** Neighboring During Uncertain Times
------------------------------------------------------------
Often when you think you’re at the end of something, you’re at the beginning of something else.” - Fred Rogers

Presbyterian Minister Fred Rogers, fondly known as Mister Rogers, exemplified the Golden Rule through a children’s television show. Mister Rogers Neighborhood used puppets, songs, and real-life scenarios to teach children how to be kind to one another. Many of us have taken his teachings to heart by cultivating relationships with those in our communities. However, the current global pandemic has drastically changed everything.

While many of us would stop to chat while passing a neighbor on the sidewalk, or check in with those close by, the current safety guidelines make those interactions more difficult. To add another layer of distance, the current political climate has driven a wedge between neighbors who may have different views.

In this week’s episode of Engage with Eagle Forum, Kirsten Hasler and Tabitha Walter talk to Matthew Gillette, a community cultivator and faith leader, on loving your neighbor despite current events. They chat about ways to engage in communities and how to have civil, productive conversations with those who believe differently. While the nation’s shutdown may have seemed like the end of life as we knew it, we can look forward to the beginning of new dreams.
