Now more than ever, it's imperative that we pay close attention to the decisions and actions our leaders in Washington take.
As a nation and in each individual state, we have been presented with two choices:
- Follow the science and evidence.
- Follow Donald Trump.
In New York, most of our leaders have followed the advice of scientific experts and made hard decisions in order to contain COVID-19, and we will continue to do so to succeed in keeping the pandemic down. But other states have taken a different course, and we're seeing the scary results.
As cases and deaths tragically continue to rise in states like Florida, it is unfathomable that we are STILL playing politics with this pandemic. Devastatingly, Lee Zeldin has ignored the advice of experts and, instead, followed the president. Here he is at the Trump campaign rally in Tulsa, without his mask in the middle of a global pandemic.
As a scientist, and as the Representative for NY-01, I will always prioritize the facts and evidence over political games and corporate donors.
