John, in just four days, one of the most important early elections of the year will unfold: Arizona’s Salt River Project Board race.

Like me, you may be wondering why all eyes are on this local utility.

First: Turning Point — yes, that Turning Point, known for its hateful and inflammatory rhetoric — is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to try to buy these seats.

Second: We have a real chance to help shift power at the largest public utility in the country — to lower rates, hold data centers accountable, and fight for the public interest.

Third: Arizona is a critical battleground state, and the outcome of this election could offer an early read on voter energy and momentum heading into November.

Victory is within striking distance, but remember: voting power in this race is tied to land ownership, so a small number of property holders will decide who wins. That means every undecided voter our candidates reach between now and Election Day can truly move the needle.
