And it's true. As our country has become more divided, more and more elections are coming down to just a handful of votes.

Any person who steps into a voting booth to make their voice heard could cast the deciding vote in the next election. So it's never been more important to register as many people as possible.

We've all seen the headlines -- Texas is right on the edge of becoming a true battleground state.

But one of my biggest fears is waking up the day after Election Day 2020 to find out that low voter turnout cost us important races.

We're competing in places that most people never even thought possible just a few years ago, but we can't win in any of them if we don't expand the electorate in a way that reflects the diversity of the state.

I sleep easier now knowing that we're already doing that work -- with your support, we've registered over 16,000 Texans this year alone -- but we've still got a long way to go before 2020.
