I wanted to share some campaign updates to make sure you, as someone who shares our values and cares about the future of this country, know exactly where we are in our campaign to win NY-01:
FIRST: We won our primary in a decisive victory, and just hours later, the first GOP attack of the general election cycle painted me as a "radical scientist" (as if that is a thing…). Then, after realizing that our grassroots campaign has the power to flip NY-01 red-to-blue, the American Action Network launched a six-figure TV buy to prop up their darling Lee Zeldin.
THEN: We absolutely BLEW past our July fundraising goal, raising over $600,000, with the help of THOUSANDS of supporters who are tired of our president and his hyper-partisan allies like my opponent Lee Zeldin wreaking havoc on our democracy.
NOW: All eyes are on us to see if we can show we have the growing momentum and energy needed to defeat far-right, science-denying swamp creature Lee Zeldin.
Our team knows we have a tough fight ahead of us, but we're committed to out-working Lee Zeldin and his corporate donors every step of the way. It is time to elect leaders who not only trust the advice of science and experts, but know how to deploy that knowledge and forge real progress.
While Americans are dying from a very real virus, Lee Zeldin is trying to create an artificial panic here on Long Island. He knows he has to lie, fear monger, and distort the truth because he cannot win on his record.
My opponent doesn't see a problem with lying to voters if it means he could win in November, a move he’s taken directly from the president’s playbook. Our campaign on the other hand, is focused on facts, and we will always level with you about where things really stand.
We're moving the needle forward each day because of you and the support of this growing team. But Trump hosted a high-dollar in-person donor event here on Long Island yesterday, where he charged $50,000 at a minimum -- and $100,000 for a photo opportunity.
Zeldin will continue to benefit from Trump’s fundraising events and visits to the district like this one. We MUST continue to show that voters in NY-01 reject their hyper-partisan agenda.
