Stop Bank of America From Funding Drilling in the Arctic!

We can block the Trump administration's attempts to open the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge to drilling if we cut off the flow of money from
major U.S. banks. Bank of America is the only remaining holdout.

Dear NRDC Activist,
The Trump administration is forcing through imminent plans to open up the
irreplaceable Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to oil and gas
drilling.
But following outcry from local communities and activists — including NRDC
supporters like you — five of the top six U.S. banks have pledged to keep
their money out of investments in Arctic oil and gas projects, including
in the Refuge.
Only one major holdout remains: Bank of America.
We can throw a wrench in Trump's plans by cutting off the flow of money
into Arctic drilling. But we need to ramp up the pressure on Bank of
America now, before irreversible damage is done to one of the world's last
truly wild places.
[ [link removed] ]Send a letter to Bank of America right now demanding they join every
other major U.S. bank in ending investment in Arctic oil and gas drilling.
Take it
from me: Public pressure works. Five of the country's biggest banks —
Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo
— have done the right thing by committing not to fund Arctic drilling. And
that happened because the region's Gwich'in people, and activists like you
and me, joined together and demanded it.
We can do the same with Bank of America — and we must.
Why? Because the Arctic Refuge's coastal plain is sacred to the Gwich'in,
who rely on its caribou for their food supply and culture. And because
these lands are home to some of the world's most endangered species,
including polar bears who nurse their cubs there.
Not only that, but drilling in the Arctic would be a devastating blow to
our fight against climate change — increasing our addiction to oil and
compounding the carbon pollution that already threatens our planet's
future — and cleaning up an oil spill in this extremely remote region
would be functionally impossible.
[ [link removed] ]It's not too late to stop Arctic drilling in its tracks. Tell Bank of
America: NO FUNDING for Arctic oil and gas projects — not in the Arctic
Refuge and not anywhere else in the Arctic!
Thank you, as always, for all you do to protect the Arctic. Together we
will continue to protect our environment no matter what challenges we face
in the weeks, months, and years ahead.
Sincerely,
