Team —
In just a few moments, I am going to ask you to make a donation to my campaign committee. I hope you'll give me a chance to explain why this request is so important.
As you may know, when I was a child, I had a severe illness that put me in the hospital for three months. Even though I fully recovered, my grandparents, who raised me, were unable to get me insurance at any price because I had this previous illness.
Like 133 million Americans, I know what it's like to have the label "pre-existing condition" attached to my care, and before the Affordable Care Act was passed, many of us could be denied coverage.
So, you can imagine my frustration when Republicans continue beating the drum on repealing the law — including its protections — if they win back the House and keep the White House in 2020.
The only way we can protect our health care from Republican attacks is by flipping the White House and the Senate. Will you add a donation of whatever you can afford so I can spend more time doing my job in the Senate, campaigning for Democrats across the country, and less time fundraising? I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important.

Two months ago, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers planned to expand Medicaid in our state. But the Republican-controlled State Assembly did not accept the federal expansion — leaving $324 million on the table and millions of Wisconsinites in the lurch.
Last week, I joined the governor to stress our commitment to seeing the expansion through during a visit to a nonprofit health care center in rural Wisconsin.
There’s a reason we have community centers like these throughout the state, especially in rural areas. They are here to provide health care to those who have fallen through the cracks in an imperfect, flawed system.
Republicans at every level of our government should be working to improve our system and ensure quality, affordable health care to all — but instead, they’re playing politics with people’s lives.
Look, I got into public service because I saw my grandparents stay up nights, worried sick that I would fall ill again and they wouldn't be able to afford my care. No one should ever have to go through that. The ACA finally addressed this problem. It was one of the law's core achievements.
But if Republicans have their way, millions of Americans could find themselves in a place where — once again — insurers would deny them coverage at any price. I am going to keep fighting to make sure that doesn’t happen, but I need your support.
Make a contribution of whatever you can afford so I can keep fighting to protect our health care — by doing my job in the Senate and help elect more Democrats who will do the same.

I am not going to let anyone make me forget where I came from or why I got into public service in the first place. So long as you're with me, I know we can overcome any challenge we may face, elect Democrats up and down the ballot, and stop Republicans from taking away health insurance from millions of Americans.
Thank you for standing with me.
