Dear Reader:

In the months since the coronavirus pandemic struck our region, we’ve brought you focused coverage through in-depth reporting, first-person essays, our podcast and ongoing breaking news.

We know how important reliable local news of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis is to our readers; it’s been our most-read reporting focus in recent months. From March to July 2020, we published more than 200 coronavirus-related stories and 22 first-person essays focused on COVID-19 impacts. In 2019, we published our highest number of stories in our history, but our output in 2020 is almost triple that number. We again recalibrated our efforts to document locally a significant movement for civil rights amid the pandemic.

Providing this vital level of reporting to the community takes significant time and resources. During the pandemic, our staff continues to cover the issues that matter to our region — the complex stories about Pittsburgh’s environment, development, education, health and more. The truth is that to continue covering what’s happening in our area at the level our readers deserve, we need your support.

If you’re able, will you set up a monthly donation of $15, or whatever amount is comfortable for you?
