John, did you know that it's National Farmers Market Week?
It's a week to celebrate the impact of farmers markets in their communities, bringing fresh and affordable food to folks all over our Commonwealth--and across America. One thing is clear: in these difficult times, it's never been more important to support local businesses like the growers and makers who set up at farmers markets each week.
This morning, I took a quick trip down to Scottsville for their weekly Farmer's Market. I had a great time chatting with my fellow patrons, connecting with some local leaders, and picking up a few items from the awesome growers and makers who make the magic happen. Even better, everyone was masked up and maintaining appropriate physical distance while supporting the local economy!
So, if you didn't get a chance this week, make sure to mark your calendar for next weekend's Farmers Markets. If you're here in VA-05, we have some really awesome markets all over the district, so don't miss out! More than that, everyone wins when we buy fresh and buy local. Happy National Farmers Market Week, everybody!
Best,
Cameron
