Dear John,
Joe Biden is set to be officially nominated as the Democratic Party's candidate for president of the United States in the coming days.
With just three months to go until Election Day, we are all facing a decision as individuals and in our communities. We're facing the same decision as a party — and we are counting on Working Families Party supporters and members like you to help us make it.
Should WFP endorse Joe Biden for president against Donald Trump or stay neutral in the general election?

Thousands of WFP members and supporters have already participated in our endorsement vote over the last 48 hours.
We asked if we could share some of your thoughts on this critical question with the rest of the WFP family, and about half of you said yes! We're reading all of your comments, and while we don't have room here to share them all, here are a few.
Here are some supporters' reasons for voting to endorse Biden:
“Voting in our country's presidential elections must be strategic. We will be able to organize under a President Biden and potentially even score significant progressive victories. Under a second term of Trump, the progressive movement will be fighting for survival, and authoritarianism may take an irreversible hold on this nation.” - Dylan S. from Georgia
“The Trump administration has been disastrous for Black and Brown communities. My community is exhausted by the past four years: the constant trauma of mass deportations, the horror of witnessing kids be ripped from their parents' arms and being placed in cages, overpolicing of our communities, a rigged economy, and stark racial disparities of death and suffering due to the COVID19 pandemic. It would be immoral for the WFP to not do absolutely everything in its power to get that corporatist fascist out of office, so that we can continue to organize for justice, equity, and sustainability.” - Julie G. from Colorado
“A clear defeat of Trump is necessary to reduce challenges to the election outcome when he loses. We need every progressive organization to endorse Biden and maintain a strong voice with the new administration to promote a more just platform.” - Felice G. from New Mexico
“Biden is the best candidate at this time who will work the hardest to make this a better world and country. Trump has destroyed so much and there is a lot of work that needs to be done to restore America and the world.” - Andrea L. from New York
And here are some supporters' reasons for voting to stay neutral in the Biden-Trump race:
“Unless he upholds our values I'm not comfortable endorsing him as a WFP candidate. All of the people we endorse share a common mission and espouse our values. Unless he's appealing to our platform I think we should stay neutral.” - Monique H. from Connecticut
“WFP should focus our energy on downballot progressive candidates and policies. We must stand strong on issues of Medicare for All and racial justice and reducing economic inequality. The stance should be that Biden must earn our support, it is not automatically granted.” - Leigh S. from Louisiana
“The WFP endorsement carries a lot of weight with progressive voters. Candidates should earn it. Otherwise, there will be no incentive for moderate Dem candidates to do better.” - Natasha P. from Virginia
“The policies Biden has advocated for for decades are not policies that help working families. They only help corporations, Wall Street, and other special interests. WFP will weaken its influence if it amplifies the lesser of two evils. Stay neutral.” - Columbia M. from New York
