Help us protect earned benefits now [link removed] GIVE NOW to protect Social
Security and Medicare! [link removed] DearJohn,
As you know, in the next couple of weeks Social Security beneficiaries will begin to receive their one-time cash payment [link removed] from the government as they struggle through the coronavirus crisis. Of course, we had to fight to ensure that beneficiaries didn't need to jump through unnecessary hoops in order to receive their payments from the coronavirus economic relief package. While the correct decision was made in the end, it was the Trump Administration's original decision that put checks in jeopardy for millions of vulnerable Americans.
Frankly, this is just par for the course with this Administration. In fact, the President's budgets have sought to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid by trillions of dollars. His advisors and his allies in Congress have called for so-called "entitlement reform" in order to pay for the costly Trump-GOP tax cuts of 2017, which benefited mainly wealthy Americans and huge corporations. And so, the threats to earned benefits haven't gone away ... <span style="font-family: Arial, Tahoma, "Verdana sans-serif"; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;">President Trump is poised to sign a payroll tax cut executive order at any moment! When that happens, we need Congress to swiftly invalidate the President's unconstitutional action before it succeeds in cutting off or restricting Social Security and Medicare's vital revenue stream. So please help the National Committee kill this dangerous plan for good by making one urgent gift of $12, $9 or $5 today! Older Americans, who have done so much for this country, continue to be asked to make do with less, even in good economic times. And so, during the ongoing coronavirus health and economic crises, we must remain on high alert for any effort to use earned benefits to pay for unrelated programs or fiscal priorities.
John, this
Sincerely, Max Richtman
