The COVID-19 crisis continues to spiral out of control. Over 150,000 Americans are now dead. The economy has stalled once again. And most states are seeing a rise in cases.
But all is well -- if you listen to delusional President Trump.
In a recent Fox News interview, Trump placed the country on the road to recovery, claiming that “this thing is going away” and that only a handful of states were seeing increases -- contradicting the recent warning from White House coronavirus task force coordinator Deborah Birx that the virus was “extraordinarily widespread.”
Trump also pushed for the reopening of schools, claiming children are “virtually immune” to the virus -- ignoring evidence that children can suffer life-threatening side effects from the virus and that school reopenings could create widespread community outbreaks.
According to Donald Trump, “much of the country is in really good shape. We’re set to rock ‘n’ roll.” Yet, that would be news to the millions of Americans suffering from the physical, psychological, and economic effects of this worsening crisis.
The more Trump talks optimistically about this crisis, the more obvious it is that there’s actually no federal plan to fight this pandemic.
