Good morning! I woke up early, so I
wanted to take a minute to reach out with my thoughts before the day gets
going. If you’re an early bird like me, I’m glad you’re here. (If not, I
hope I didn’t wake you up).
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about something Congressman John Lewis
once said — that his greatest fear was waking up to a democracy gone.
And right now, I have to be honest that I fear that too, because it feels
closer than it should.
In the Senate, I’ve been speaking out against the SAVE Act because it does
the exact opposite of what we should be doing. We should be expanding
access to vote, not making it harder for people to participate in our
democracy.
At the same time, families are struggling to afford groceries, gas, and
rent… and instead of addressing those challenges, Republicans are tearing
apart communities and dragging our economy down.
That’s not the leadership Marylanders, or Americans, deserve.
I’m going to keep using my voice to fight back, protect voting rights, and
stand up for working families. But I can’t do this alone — not with a FEC
End-of-Quarter fundraising deadline just hours away.

up this fight and build the momentum we need to take back the Senate?
