A viral video on Facebook claims to show a “campaign ad” for President Donald Trump that was “banned” by Facebook. There’s no evidence the video — showcasing audio from Trump’s 2020 State of the Union address — was “banned,” or that it’s an ad from the Trump campaign.

Biden Video Deceptively Edited to Make Him Appear ‘Lost’ Posted on Friday, August 7th, 2020

A deceptively edited video clip of Joe Biden circulating on social media cuts an hour-long speech to less than one minute, retaining only parts of statements and his pauses between words.

False Claims Follow Old Portland Mugshots Posted on Wednesday, August 5th, 2020

Old mugshots circulating on social media falsely suggest that they show 13 teachers who were recently arrested during the protests in Portland, Oregon. The photos are actually from 2017, and the posts provide no evidence that any of them are teachers.

Asthma Medicine Not Proven as COVID-19 ‘Cure’ Posted on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020

A viral headline on Facebook claims that a vaccine isn’t “Needed” for COVID-19 because “There Is Already A Cure.” But the supposed “cure” is an asthma medication, touted by a Texas doctor, that has not yet been proven in clinical trials as an effective treatment for COVID-19 — though researchers are exploring its efficacy.

COVID-19 Nasal Swab Test Does Not Cause Risk of Infection Posted on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020

A viral Facebook post makes the false claim that the nasal swab test for COVID-19 damages the “blood-brain barrier” and can therefore lead to brain infections. Medical experts say the swab test is completely safe. 

Viral Video Manipulates Pelosi’s Words Posted on Monday, August 3rd, 2020

A manipulated video clip of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shared widely on Facebook makes it appear that she slurred her words during a May press conference. She didn’t. The video clip was slowed down and spliced together.
