Friend, Organizing in a rural district is never easy, but Tuesday’s fantastic results on Medicaid Expansion show just how crucial—and beneficial—it is to identify and energize our allies in every part of the entire state. Missouri’s 8th District has historically been an area where many workers belonged to Unions, and families made a pathway to the middle class through well-paying, local jobs that not only supported them but helped stabilize their communities as well. Kathy is a staunchly pro-union candidate, but not for no reason. As the daughter, granddaughter, and spouse of union members, she is fighting every day to stop the degradation of whatever is left of our small towns, and to keep middle class jobs that allow for dignity and pride in the work people do right here in our district and throughout the state. This is why our campaign has garnered the endorsement of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the United Automobile Workers (UAW). This campaign’s core message of fighting for a living wage, returning good jobs to once-prosperous small towns, and cleaning up our environment and creating sustainable jobs through a New Deal for Rural America goes to the heart of the broad coalition that can win.
