Hi John -- Donald Trump is on Long Island today.
After galavanting across the country for events and fundraisers, the president decided to host a "round table" with a photo opportunity (for $50,000 donors only, of course). As Trump expands his sphere of influence to our district, we can only hope public health guidelines are being followed, but it’s doubtful, given that he promised a photo opp for his most generous supporters.
I'm not surprised he's chosen Long Island as one of his campaign priorities. With my opponent Lee Zeldin as his honorary New York campaign chair, I expect this to be one of several pro-Trump events that will take place here in an attempt to shore up one of the president’s most vulnerable friends.
Zeldin continues to prove that he is more interested in appealing to D.C. elites, corporate PAC donors, and Donald Trump than in helping his constituents. He has refused to work with Democrats to pass a new coronavirus relief bill which would provide families with unemployment benefits and protect from evictions, at a time when their financial security is more important than ever.
My team knows that Zeldin will ride on Trump's coattails over the next 3 months, and we need to continue building our resources so we have the momentum to stop them both.
We must show that Suffolk County voters are united in rejecting Trump and his far-right allies. We cannot stop organizing. We cannot let our fundraising dip. There is too much on the line.
