Prayer Partner Weekly Update
August 8, 2020

"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

– John 3:17

Africa & Europe

  • In February of this year, IJM Ghana provided training and mentoring to CARITAS Ghana on how to support local authorities to carry out investigations, conduct rescues and provide social support in cases of child trafficking. This summer, CARITAS, Department of Social Welfare and the police rescued three children suspected of being exploited in fishing and farming along the shores of Lake Volta. Praise God for the first rescue by an IJM-trained NGO partner in Ghana, and pray that we would form more partnerships like this in the future.

Latin America

  • Pray for renewed strength and safety for IJM's team in El Salvador. Despite the pandemic they are finding ways to continue bringing together key stakeholders to improve capacity for local prosecutors, police and other government officials to protect and restore the most vulnerable. Pray that our team's commitment to supporting these local officials will ensure victims and survivors of violence receive good care and justice.

South Asia

  • Please pray for God's health and protection over vulnerable children and teens in the shelter homes where we work. There have been some cases recently where some of these children have tested positive for COVID-19, which is very hard to control in a communal living space like a shelter home. Pray IJM and our partners would find the right resources to support these children and stay safe from the pandemic. Pray for swift healing and joy for all children living at the homes in these difficult times.

Southeast Asia

  • Pray for hiring in the Philippines as the team looks for applicants with the right expertise to support investigations. Continue to pray for wisdom, patience and God's peace as we remotely support investigations of OSEC traffickers and also plan for an advanced investigative workshop with our partners for later this year.

IJM HQ & Global Partners

IJM headquarters is located in the United States. IJM has international advancement offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

  • Pray for the impact of our study on Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC). For three years, IJM Philippines has been working on a groundbreaking study that illuminates OSEC in the Philippines with data and statistics. As we discuss the findings and recommendations with key partners and media outlets, pray that this would catch the attention of reporters and that we would find the right partners in the technology sector and elsewhere who are passionate about ending this crime for good.
