When you play basketball with a President, you learn a couple of lessons.

Politics — and sports — have a way of revealing someone’s character. As Barack Obama’s personal assistant for six years, I saw the grit, passion, empathy, and care that the President poured into his work.

I see all of these qualities in Joe Kennedy.

It’s clear that Joe is someone who fights with that same energy and passion for Massachusetts. And I know that’s the leadership he’ll bring to the U.S. Senate.

Throughout his career, Joe Kennedy has been so much more than a dependable Democratic vote. He’s been a champion for issues like universal healthcare, LGBTQ+ rights, and racial, climate, and economic justice.

The challenges we face right now have made it more obvious than ever: the politics of the past are not working. We need a new generation of leaders like Joe Kennedy to fix a broken status quo and focus on the future.
