Dear John,
Seventy-five years ago, the U.S. dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on Aug. 6 and 9, 1945, killing and wounding hundreds of thousands of people—and impacting every generation since. Never again can we allow such acts to be repeated.
Here are this week's resources to help you stay informed and support your activism.
A survivor's call for a world without nuclear weapons: Michiko Kodama was seven years old when the U.S. bombed Hiroshima. In 2015, she wrote this account of Aug. 6, 1945 and how that day has afflicted her and family since.
Providing aid to communities in El Salvador: Thanks to your support of AFSC’s pandemic response efforts, dozens of community members struggling in this pandemic—and affected by Tropical Storm Amanda—have received food assistance and hygiene supplies.
Tell Congress: Ensure coronavirus relief reaches all people who need it!: Millions of immigrants are among many in the U.S. left out of the government’s response to this public health crisis. As Congress continues to debate the next relief bill, urge members to include immigrants in health care and other benefits!
Join us each Thursday at 4 p.m. ET: You have an open invitation to weekly updates from AFSC staff via Facebook Live on how your support is helping us make a difference in communities around the world. Check out our recordings of previous 10-20 minute talks on freeing immigrants from detention, providing humanitarian relief, and more.
