Email from MCRGO   MICHIGAN COALITION FOR RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS "Promoting safe use and ownership of firearms through education, litigation, and legislation." FROM THE FRONT LINES MCRGO Stops the Bleed MCRGO instructors are volunteering their time to provide the Stop the Bleed course at our regional picnics, beginning with the Southeast Michigan Picnic of Michigan's Allied Gun Groups in May. Stop the Bleed is a national campaign and training program that empowers bystanders to act as immediate responders, learning to control life-threatening bleeding from emergencies, accidents, or disasters. Launched in 2015, it teaches simple, essential techniques, applying direct pressure, packing wounds, and using tourniquets, to save lives before professional help arrives. A no-cost Stop the Bleed course will be conducted from 10:30 AM to 12 PM for current members of MCRGO, Michigan Open Carry, and Michigan Gun Owners at the Tuscola Conservation Club in Caro on Saturday, May 16. Pre-registration is required for this course, and the course is limited to 12 participants. Registration for the Stop the Bleed course at Caro on May 16 is HERE. The course will be repeated later this year and in coming years at our regional picnics. Look for notices of future no-cost course offerings around the state in this newsletter. Meeting and collaborating through Slack, these volunteers invested countless hours in thoughtful discussion, careful analysis, and practical recommendations across a wide range of topics essential to MCRGO’s continued growth. From refining our core messaging and strengthening mission alignment to evaluating our digital presence, branding, and audience engagement strategies, the group approached each subject with seriousness and a shared commitment to advancing the organization. Their work also explored opportunities in media relations, donor communication, partnerships, events, and performance metrics, helping to lay a stronger foundation for how MCRGO communicates and connects moving forward. You can see the examples of their ideas in the meeting summary above. We extend our sincere thanks to Ralph Claxton, Becca Lopez, Gregg Smith, Curt Burnside, Mark Harrop, Brent Case, Michael Cleveland, Chuck Perricone, Steve Dulan, and Salvador Peña for their dedication and professionalism. This group brought together a wide range of perspectives and experiences and, through respectful, productive dialogue, produced recommendations that are already being implemented throughout this year. Their willingness to volunteer their time and expertise reflects the very best of MCRGO and strengthens our ability to serve our members and mission effectively. With this phase complete, the workgroup now turns its attention to one of the most visible and impactful projects ahead: the redesign of the MCRGO.org website. This will be the first comprehensive update to the website since 2011. Over the past 15 years, nonprofit websites have evolved from simple, static “digital brochures” into dynamic, mobile-first platforms designed to drive action. We look forward to sharing progress on this effort and continuing to build on the strong momentum created by this outstanding team. If you wish to join the MCRGO Marketing Workgroup on Slack, please email the executive director at [email protected].
