The question any person must ask themselves before stepping into the public eye to run for office is: why am I running? If you can’t answer that, then you’re doomed from the start.
For me, the answer started with the work I’ve done as a human rights lawyer serving domestic and sexual violence survivors and children in vulnerable communities. As we began to hit the trail my answer began to evolve. I realized first-hand that Virginia’s First District needed a leader who would bring compassion to the office, and someone who would not just advocate for our community but turn that advocacy into action.
My reasons for running expand with every person I meet, which is why I’d love to meet you next weekend!
