Blue Dog Leadership on COVID-19 Negotiations: Failure is Not an Option

WASHINGTON-Today, Rep. Anthony Brindisi (NY-22), the Blue Dog Coalition's Co-Chair for Whip and Co-Chair of the Blue Dog Task Force on Economic Growth, issued the following statement on the current state of pandemic response negotiations:

"More than one million American workers have filed initial claims for unemployment each week for 20 consecutive weeks. About 30 million Americans are relying on unemployment benefits to get by. These numbers are staggering. Congress must do all that it can to support the unemployed, keep workers tethered to their jobs and ensure businesses survive. House and Senate leaders owe it to the American people to keep negotiating no matter how difficult talks become. Anyone who walks away from these negotiations is turning their back on the American people. This time of crisis demands action, not partisan nonsense. Failure to reach a deal is not an option."
