John,
In the wake of all the tragedies and awful things the Trump administration has done these last few months, it’s important we do not forget how this summer began — with a humanitarian crisis at our border.
In July, joined by my Congressional colleague Rep. Colin Allred, I traveled to the detention center in El Paso, Texas. I wanted to see for myself how Trump's cynically named "Migrant Protection Protocols" (MPP) are being implemented in these detention facilities and see how asylum seekers are being treated.
What I witnessed was both horrifying and heartbreaking and shows the Trump administration’s complete disregard for human life. I shared my experiences on Facebook last month, and I want to share it with you again, because it’s simply too important to forget.
The stories from the border are heartbreaking — and I witnessed only a small snapshot of them. We cannot allow this humanitarian crisis to continue. We must hold President Trump accountable. ![]()
Help me hold this President accountable: Sign our petition and join me in demanding that Congress and the White House end the humanitarian disaster at the border. ![]()
On behalf of these families and children, and on behalf of our nation’s humanitarian and inclusive values, we have to act now — before it’s too late. ![]()
Thank you,
Jared ![]()
