City Policing "Survey" - Bonin's Latest Flip-Flop Dear Members, Several members of the City Council have created a “survey” to solicit the opinions of the public on policing issues, or “reimagining” policing as they call it. While it’s neither a scientific nor balanced survey, the League believes it is important for you, your friends, your family and neighbors to also make sure your voice is heard. Please take a few moments to complete the survey so that the politicians at City Hall can receive opinions from more than just the activist crowd. Click here to take the survey. It’s anonymous. Also, Councilmember Bonin is hosting a virtual public forum with Black Lives Matter Los Angeles and other “authors” of the “People’s Budget” on Monday, August 10, at 7 p.m. Their reckless proposal demands for more than a 95% cut to the LAPD budget. As ridiculous as it may sound, Councilmember Bonin is providing this idea with legitimacy. We encourage you to attend this virtual townhall. You can register here, and also submit questions when you register. Finally, as it relates to Councilmember Bonin, the League has been working to ensure that his constituents know that when he ran for re-election, he ran on a platform of putting more police officers in neighborhoods. Now, of course, he is leading the crusade to dramatically cut neighborhood police patrols. We sent a mailer to his district that can be found on a website, [link removed], which we created to chronicle his epic policy flip-flops. On the website, you can also put in a request to get your very own pair of Bonin Flip-Flops, while supplies last. Please take the time to complete the survey above, and we will stay in touch with other efforts to ensure our politicians are held accountable for their reckless behavior.
