Extreme wealth inequality in the United States is fundamentally incompatible with a government that works in the best interest of Americans. Nothing proves that more than billionaires making obscene profits as tens of millions slide into poverty and desperation.

This will be paid for using a one-time 60% tax on growth in billionaire wealth between the beginning of the pandemic and now.

Bernie’s bill could potentially fund other public goods because it will raise a significant amount of money from the 467 billionaires who would be subject to the tax.

According to Americans for Tax Fairness, those plutocrats have seen their wealth expand 30% since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic for an average of $5.2 billion a day. Even after Bernie’s tax, they would still have gained $310 billion in wealth gains since mid-March.
